and not on the dealer, the con-
sumer may deduct as a tax. for
Federal income tax purposes,
the amount of the gasoline tax
paid by him; but the taxpayer
must have kept records of the
payment of such taxes in order
that the deduction may be
। substantiated as is required by
the law and the ^regulations.
The Federal gasoline tax im-
posed by seation 617 of the
revenue act of 1932 is not de-
ductible by the consumer. A
taxpayer may ascertaih wheth-
er the gasoline tax imposed by
a State is deduotible by the
consumer or by the dealer by
addressing an inquiry to the
collector of internal revenue for
his district.
In any case where the gaso-
line purchased is used for busi-
ness purposes the tax may be
added to the coot of the gas-
oline and dedacted as a busi-
ness expense; hut where that
is done, the gasoline tax can
not be deducted separately

This remark, like many other
• things He said; comes home to
us now.
Many boys and girls, who
grew up during the recent
_ golden decade, speak as if the
making of money were the only
mark of success. Reared in the
_ days when the world bowed

terial wealth, these proseprity’s
children are beginning life with
a great mental handicap and

fathers and their grandfathers

The Union Hill H-D. met
Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 2:30
p.m. at the 'home of Mrs. Lon
Richardson, with Miss Dil-
worth present.
The house was called to ord-
er by the president. Roll was
called and minutes read and
approved.
There were 13 members and
4 visitors present.
Old and new business was dis
cussed and we decided on buy-
ing two automatic cookers. The
meeting was then turned over
to Miss Dilworth and she gave
us an interesting talk on dif-
ferent shrubs and yard im-
provements.
We were then ’ invited into
the dining room and served
with refreshments. The meet-
ing then adjourned to meet
with Mrs. Jack Richardson,
Marchi, at 2:30 p.m.

interest in the sunlight; your
health and honor are worth

of the magnolia and the rose,
and themusic of wind in the
trees; yours is the love and
confidnce, of the family and
friends; yours is the blessed
opportunity to serve with oth-

on new values and find its way
