an ominous looking cloud and

a tree down just where, his
car had been standing. All the
fishermen, on the lake and a
party of ladies and young peo-
ide rushed to the clubhouse for
protection. The wind razed big

According to a list of federal
permits to sell 3.2 non-intoxi-
eating beer, legal in the eyes of
the United States government,
L. H. Stephens of Gilmer has
been granted a permit. It was
issued on Wednesday by Geo.
C. Hopkins, collector of internal
revenue. Dallas.
Although Stephens has been
raided several times in the past
week, and made bond one time
for having 3.2 beer in his pos-
session, it seems doubtful if
his case can come to trial.
There will not be another
grand jury before September

it is practically certain that
Texas will have repealed the

General James V. Allred has
advised K. C. Barkley, Harris
County District Attorney, to-
day, answerjng Barkley’s in-
quiry about 3.2 beer sales.
The Attorney General point-
jd out that unless and until
the new State law takes effect,
sale of beverages with over 1
per cent ale hoik content is
punishable. Issuance of Federal
permit does not affect the
status, the Attorney General
ruled.
If grand juries will not indict
Allred calls the Houston At-

places becomes nuisances and
may be closed for a year.
