Tads dominate playoffs; clinch championship
Let's face it — I bet on the
Yankees, the Browns and the
Insatiables; 0 for 3. After handing
the Mudflaps a sound thrashing,
the TADS came back the follow-
ing Sunday surprising the highly
favored Insatiables in their 26-7
triumph. There is no denying that
on November 8 the TADS had a
better team.
"Rocket" Rosen, the heralded
quarterback for the TADS moved
his precision offense at will by
combining the explosivé short
yardage game with a previously
uncertain long range strike force
in J. Pearlman. The TADS just
overwhelmed their western divi-
sion counterparts and forced
them to make mistakes and play
their game. The Insatiables never
really became functional as their
power-house offense could only
muster four penetrations in the
entire game against a defense
reminiscent of the *75 Steel
Curtain.
The TADS began with a short
strike from Rocket to Pearlman
with Steve Singer adding the
sxtra point. Pearlman again an-
swered the call later in the first
half, finding himself on the
receiving end of a pinpoint blast.
Andy Caplan grabbed the extra
point making the score 14-0
TADS.
It looked as if the Insatiables
would enter the lockerroom score-
less when Al Wallen intercepted a
misguided rocket, lateraled to
Mark McGarry who, in turn,
dumped to speedster Doug Jung-
ling for the score. McGarry
scored the extra point and the half
ended with the score 14-7 TADS.
It appeared that the Insatiables
were on a comeback. However,
their attempts were thwarted by
an aggressive rush and a covert
secondary in the second half.
In the early minutes, Steve
Singer found himself open as he
accounted for the TADS third
touchdown of the afternoon. The
point after was no good and the
TADS boosted their lead to 20-7.
The final drive found Rosen
hitting Pearlman once again in
the end zone for a touchdown and
the championship.
Comments after the game
found the Insatiables disgruntled,
but indicating a great deal of
respect for the champs. "They
were the best team I've played
against, even in the city league,"
said halfback Doug Jungling.
Although the local lounge
lizards say that Rocket Rosen was
the only reason for the TADS
emerging victorious, it's well
proven that a quarterback is only
as good as the team that
surrounds him. It was the team
that surfaced on the eighth — not
Rocket. The victors include: A.
Caplan, M. Cohen, S. Singer, R.
Rosen, J. Stern, M. Read, D.
Williams, D. Bruman, L. Finstien
and J. Pearlman.

Let us not forget the hoopsters
and the beginning of the STCL

tive Sundays at the Cassaboom
YMCA located at the South Loop
and 1-45. The schedule will
culminate with the top four teams
advancing to the playoffs in early
March. Deadline for registering a
team will be the manager's
meeting set for January 22 at 4:30
p.m. Information concerning the
entry fee is not available at this
time. However, Ron Dold has
stated that the cost and other
pertinent information will be
posted as it becomes available on
the intramural board in the next
few weeks.
In a final note, it is my
unfortunate duty to dispel the
rumor about the advocacy board
holding "Golden Gloves" compe-
tition this season. However,
should the need arise, the ex-
ploits and pugalistic prowess of
our chosen few will be covered
bout by bout by this reporter.
