ditions in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District for August, made
public Saturday, the prosperous season that has been so confidently
expected has definitely arrived. The report statea that, "Trade reports
on the eve of the annual movement of the cotton crop, continue to
evince the optimistic tone which has characterized them for several
months past, are now accompanied and supported by sales statistics
which afford ample proof of the fact that a fairly prosperous season
is already here." The seasonal demand greatly increased during
August as shown in the activity of the wholesale trade. The volume
