IHE squlrrel season is the only
- hunting season which is open
at this time of the year, accord-
ing to Fred Petmecky, lbcal sport-
ing goods dealer. Red or fox and
gray squirrels may be killed in
both sones of the state during the
months of May, June and July,
it was said. The bag limit is ten
in one day.
The following counties have an
open season on squirrels at all
times: DeWitt, Caldwell, Guada-
lupe. San Saba, Mason, Gillespie,
Llano, Kimball, Menard, Comal,
McCulloch, Brown, Kerr. Burnet,

TEXARKANA, June 12.— Mrs.
Maggie Hughes, 26, and her 2-year-
old baby. Olive, are dead and three
other members of the family were
injured as the result of the wreck-
ing of their automobile near here
shortly after midnight. The car,
driven by Ruby Hughes, who has
but one arm, skidded in loose gravel
as it was rounding a curve and
plunged down n- it-foot embank-
ment.
The injured, who were brought to
a local hospital, are: Mrs. Ann
Hughes, 70, mother of Ruby Hughes,
dislocated collar bone; Vernon
Hughes, son of Ruby. dislocated
shoulder, and Mr. Hughes, severe
cuts and bruises. _______

Sixth Arrest Expected.
C. A. Pond, Ed Gross and Frank
Fund were arrested in Austin
Cesirsday afternoon and gave bond.
The arrest of the sixth man in the
case growing out of a series of al-
leged. floggings of "spooners"" on
the Oak Hill road, five miles south
of Austi. is expected this Friday
afternoon.

different indictments with assault
with a pistol The first of these
alleged assaults Is said in the in-
dictment to have occured on April
1 with a young man as the victim.
Then on June 1, according to a
second inditment. Pond is charged

which started the investigation by

and Frank Pond and the sixth man
not yet arrested and charges them
with making an assault with a
pistol on a young man.

Caillaux Urges
Economy Policy

PARIS, June 13.—Finance Min-
ister Caillaux today urged a policy
of economy at a meeting of the
French cabinet. The members
promised they would trim expenss
to the utmost. M. Caillaux said
France must live within her income
and must get that income by tax-
ation alone if she expected the
world to have confidence in French
financing.

Indietment with
500 Troops Guard

HALIFAX, N. 8.. June 13.—Five
hundred troops, were on their way
today for duty in the Cape Breton
coal fields as the result of armed
clashes between striking coal miners
and British Empire Steel corpora-
tion police at New Waterford. These
clashes yesterday resulted in the
death of one miner, the serious
wounding of another and injuries
to two score. Fresh disorders were
reported early today in New Aber-
deen, a suburb of Glace 'Bay, and
Reserve.
