ed in and his services were so valu-
able that the Prison commission
decided to keep him.
Since th© 14 prison farms are
widely separated, it takes Dr. Reid
several days to make his rounds,
but he usually concentrates his at-
tention where his services are need-
• ed th© most.
He vaccinates ths animals and
perfoms all operations on large and
small animals. He vaccinates the
hogs against cholera, cattle against
black leg and anthrax, and tests
the milk cows for tuberculosis.
This job keeps him continuously on
the road, and he maintains the
herds in good condition.
Dr. Reid experiments with feed-
ing of animals and with the as-
sistance of veterinarians from Tex-
as A&M college, he is trying to
prepare a feed for stock, consist-
of cotton seed.
