Another consideration is that he has

Despite Allred's statement, many
still claim that he would run for gov-

the governor's race' is concerned. In
the far fetched event of the need for
an anti-Ferguson candidate, he could

1 .. - talk so much about modern
music anyway?” he inquired of the
reporter, "when there are so many
more important things to discuss?
"The old masters had genius. This
is’born 'and not filtered through
schools of pseudo-genius and fashion-
able tendencies. A great work of
music must be organic. It must con-
tain a plan, such as life itself'has.
Artificial compasers. who have not
yet learned the laws of life cannot ex-
pect to create any work with great
depth and understanding.”
One of the many troubles he finds
with many of the modern composers
is that they believe an extremely per-
sonal viewpoint of life and expression
rather than a personal application to
the principles of life. is more artistic
and sincere.
Hundreds of so called celebrities are
now leading young musicians in dif-
ferent directions, he said, with the
result that they dare not work as their
hearts, minds and instincts guide them
but rathet in certain grooves con-
sidered a la mode.
