all attitude.
"Our biggest single problem,"
said Cook, “has been the prob-
lem of getting the players to
learn necessary procedures and
methods more than half way.”
He said the squad would
have to guard against feeling
too self-satisfiedsafter-winning
a ball game. “That's been our
pattern for several years," he
said. “We play one good game,
then one bad one."
The Rattlers are scheduled to
undergo - intensive workouts on
plays and drills already learn-
ed. Cook and Novak hope to
put the polish on a few of-
fensive plays that are already
on the books and have them
in top working order by the
time crucial district play be-
gins again--------------- —---- -----
Hard work in the defensive
department is also expected to
fill a Rattler gridster’s practice
day. On an overall average,
Navasota's coaches are pleased
with past efforts in that depart-
ment.

the Crockett Bulldogs 20-6 on
Crockett soil Friday night in
the first District 22-AA debut
for both squads.
The win was an about-face
for the Rattlers in comparison
to last year’s effort when the
Bulldogs, then standing number
one in the district, whitewash-
ed the Navasota team 27-0.
In a game punctuated by
fumbles and penalties, the Rat
tiers connected two important
Crockett fumbles into a first
period touchdown and went on
to register the win and button
down a 4-win, 3 loss record for
the season.
The Rattlers advanced to the
field still smarting from a
stinging 28 0 defeat at the
hands of the Katy Tigers at
Brule Field here two weeks ago. I

The Navasota Rattlers will
get a needed break from action
Friday. There is no game
scheduled and the team will be
doing extensive practicing in
preparation for the coming
Madisonville Mustang contest.
The game will be played at
Brule Field here Friday, Oct. 27,
at 8 p.m. and will also be the
homecoming game for the Rat-
tlers.

High School's golf team recent-
ly completed a round of prac-
tice at A&M College's golf
course at College Station, it
was announced today by in-
structor Wally Watkins.
D. D. Lindsey was ■ credited
with a 39 for the nine-hole
course, the lowest of the group.
Walter Lindsey shot a 45; Jam-
es Falco and Harris Hoke had
47 each and Charles Falco re-
gistered 50.
