dent, gave a very impassioned
talk on the first objective of
the organization: "The Per-
petuation of the Memory of
Our Glorious Pioneer Ances-
tors.”
This was followed by a
similarly impassioned talk
on the other principal objec-
tive of the organization: "The
Presenvation of the Spirit
that Actuated Our Ancestor's
Fight for Freedom . . . The
Spirit of Freedom."
Following these talks, of-
ficers for 1963 were selected
as follows: Jim Gibson, presi-
dent; Abe Greenwood, Sr.,
vice-president; Tommy Mc-
Intyre, secretary . treasurer;
Henry Wesson, chaplain; Her-
bert Youens, sgt. - at • arms,
contingent upon his joining
the organization.
With the exception of Vic-
toria, Navasota has the larg-
est chapter in the state on a

"Good Citizenship.” highlight-
ed a meeting of the Navasota
Parent-Teachers Association
Aseociation Tuesday, Nov. 13.
at the school cafeteria.
Mrs. Scott Harris served as
moderator. Other members of
the panel were Jim Richard
son, J. D. Chaney and Lawr-
ence White.
The group voted to give $10
to the Grimes County Library
Coach Hood's room won the
room count.
In December, the P-TA will
sponsor the annual Christ-
mas program under the direc-
tion of Mrs Gerald Purcell.
Navasota's Greenwood-
Stoneham Chapter, Sons of
the Republic of Texas, held
their annual re-organizational
meeting Sunday, Nov. 11 at
the home of Sellers Rogers
and elected Jim Gibeon of
Navasota president for 1963.
A stag dinner, given jointly
by the reigning president.
Arthur Lyddleton Lott and
Sellers Rogers was. prepared
under the supervision of Mrs.
Arthur Lott, who personally
made a cake to go with the
meal.
A pig, given by Mr. Lott.
. was barbecued by his top bar-
becue man, Henry Bostain.
Mr. Rogers reported on a
scare early Sunday morning.
Because it was Armistice Day,;
