Mn. Clara Damnford
Held Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs.
Clara B. Danford, 88, of Bt 1,
Courtney were held at 3 p.m.
Sunday, April 26, from the
chapel of Scott-Harris Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Glenn G.
Brown of Bryan officiating,
and the Rev. E. H. Crouch of
Navasota assisting.
Interment was in the Court-
ney Cemetery at Courtney, un-
der the direction of Scott-
Harris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Danford died at 4:30
p.m. Friday at her residence.
She was bom in Waller Coun-
ty on April 4, 1876, the daugh-
ter of Marie Timm and A. C.
Blumberg, Sr.
Survivors include five
daughters, Mrs. M. M. Calla-
way and Mrs. T. J. Mims, both
of Courtney, Mrs. A. G. Harris
of Brazoria, Mrs. Frank Walk-
er and Mrs. J. W. Pontius,
both of Houston; one son,
Julian L. Danford of West
Columbia, 16 grandchildren
and 32 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Thomas
Mims of LaPorte, Billy Mims
of Houston, Donald Mims of
Hull-Daisetta, Douglas Reo of
Victoria, Julian Danford of
West Columbia and Hollis
Harris of Brazoria.

Funeral Services
Held Sunday for
John S. Peteete
Funeral services for John S.
Peteete, 95, a former resident
of Singleton, were held at 2
p.m. Sunday, April 26, from
the Shiro Methodist Church
in Shiro, with the Rev. Ben F.
Jones, pastor of that church
and the Rev. Gregory Long-
enbaugh of Wallis officiating.
Interment was in the Shiro
Cemetery under the direction
of the Lindley-Robertson Fu-
neral Home of Navasota.
Mr. Peteete died at 4:22 p.m.
Friday, April 24, at the Boule-
vard Rest Home in Houston.
He was born in the com-
munity of Red Top, Grimes
County, on Oct 8, 1868, the
son. of Fannie Blount and
Sidney Peteete. Mr. Peteete
was preceded in death by his
wife, Mrs. Annie Ozella Amick
Peteete, who died on Feb. 21,
1960. He was a member of the
Shiro Methodist Church at the
time of his death.
Survivors include two
daughters, Mrs. Cheater For-
man of Katy and Mrs. Buryi
Phillips of Houston; two broth-
era, Monroe Peteete of Shiro
and George Blount of Waco;
three grandchildren, Mrs. Cecil
Melendy, Jr. and Mack Hand-
ley, both of Houston and Mrs.
Jere Melendy of Cypress;
three great grandchildren, Ar-
thur Melendy and Daniel
Melendy of Cypress; along
with a number of nieces and
nephews.
Pallbearers were A. E. Me-
Gilberry, J. E. Nelson and
Walter Horton, all of Shiro,
Cecil Melendy, Jr. of Houston,
