at the Baptist Church Sunday
and Sunday night. Owing to
the cold weather, his wife and
baby didn’t come. He was a
guest in the Orion McIntyre
home while here.
The Methodists had a good
Thanksgiving service at their
church in Shiro Sunday morn-
ing and night. We were in-
deed thankful that Mrs. Pay-
see, who has been in a Gal
veston hospital some days,
was able to be at home and
to attend the services.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Bradley
of Anderson was here Sun-
day to visit her brother, Sim
Cone and Mrs. Cone.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wor-
sham were called back to
Wharton hospital to be with
her mother, Mrs. Tull of
Rosenberg. Mrs. Tull was con
valescing from eye surgery
when an infection set in. She
was rushed back to the hos-
pital and after the work of
skilled physicians, Mrs. Tull
is again better and able to
return to her home in Rosen-
berg, and Mr. and Mrs. Wor-

day. It was an all-day meet-
ing at the lovely home of Mrs.
Johnnie Lando. We find this
a very active club, doing so
many things that make the
homes really attractive, and it
is really a Home Demonstra-
tion Club in every phase. On
display were lovely Christ-
mas arrangements made from
plastic and styrofoam and
plastic, also dried arrange-
ments. Mrs. Cone gave a de-
monstration on plaster mold
ing and painting, displaying
some beautiful things. At
noon a most delicious Thanks
giving dinner was served, tur-
key with all the trimmings

One of the finest Thanks-
giving Sermons that any one
at the Lynn Grove Methodist
Church ever heard was de-
livered by the Rev. Walter
Dishman of Anderson, on the
past Sunday, when Rev. Dish-
man and Mrs. Dishman came
for an early morning hour of
worship. Roy Weaver had
charge of the Sabbath School,
which followed, all miss Mrs.
Weaver, who is now in the
Navasota hospital and we
hope for her a speedy re-
covery.
On the past Friday night
the Group Ministry met at
the Lynn Grove Church for an
evening of singing, the church
was filled with members
from all over Grimes County
and refreshments served by
the Lynn Grove women.
Tommy Wright of Navasota
and Earl Wayne Abke of
Courtney attended church
with the Melvin* Busse fam-
ily at White Hall and had
dinner at the home on Sun-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Weid-
ner and children, Connie and
Lynda of Brenham spent the
past week-end with parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Finke.
Sunday's Post carried a pic-
ture of Mrs. Margaret Mixon,
a Stephen F. Austin High
School teacher, whose students
turned in the most essays in
the port of Houston Contest.
Five Houston high school stu-
dents, together with Mrs. Mix-
on, under Capt. George Smith
set sail to New Orleans
aboard a Delta Steamship, the
Del Sud, on Friday, the group
to have returned to Houston
Sunday night by railroad, as
guests of the port. Mrs. Mixon
was a former Grimes Coun-
ty teacher, the wife of Wil-
ford Mixon and a daughter-
in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Britt
Johnson of Lynn Grove.
Mrs. Sadie Ann Rangel of
Monterrey, Mexico was with
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sullivan
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Batts are
to spend Thanksgiving with
their daughters and families
at Riviera.
Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Ham-
mons have returned from a
trip to Ft. Worth, where they
went to see a brother who is
seriously ill.
Mr. and Mrs. George Shine
and three children were up
on Saturday to the farm to
look after livestock. Mrs. J.
O. Page is to come from
Houston Ln Tuesday to get
her mother, Mrs. H. D. Shine
to return to Houston for
Thanksgiving.
