ANDY ANDERSON NEW CHIEF OF TWU PATROL
Former Denton Police Chief I. E. (Andy) Anderson
assumed charge of the Texas Woman’s University Secur-
ity Patrol recently. Andy replaces Ray A. Powell, also a
former police chief.

resigned as police chief in August of 1964. He resigned
his job to go into private business.
Now, because be says he mnst have police work in
his blood, he has returned to public service.
Andy said Mrs. Anderson will run their restaurant
in Denton Center until it can be sold.
STANLEY JOHNSON
Feature Story By Mark Locart
Stanley Johnson discovered America in Paris, Tenn,
too long ago. He came to Denton County Texas on Jan.
10th, 1910 and farmed until Dec. 1th, 1920. At that time
he started working in the Denton Post Office on that
date driving a rural route and continued in that work un-
til January 31th, 1960. That was the date the Post Office
Dept, notified the Denton Post Master he was too old
to work.
Johnson started on the route driving a horse tied to
a two wheel cart. On February 22nd, 1922 he purchased
his first automobile; a Ford roadster at a cost of $420.00,
no starter, and clincher rims for the tires. em
During the forty years on the route, he used up five
horses and 26 automobiles. He started out with a 25 mile
route, but in 1926 when the department began consolidat-
ing the routes, it increased the mileage. When Stanley
retired he had a route of 86 miles daily.
Stanley has a 40 year membership in Elm Lodge No.
30, holds a 25 year pin, Past Chancellor. Past Deputy
Grand Chancellor, has represented Elm Lodge a numb
of times at Grand Lodge Sessions. "V
Stanley and wife live at 1715 Linden, living in Denton
since 1920. They have two sons, Si Bob Johnson. Captain,
Naval Air Corp., J.W. Johnson a teacher of music in
Tyler, a total of 4 grand-children.

John Marshall, a resident of Denton for
13 years, began work as City Purchasing
Agent replacing Royce Hull on August 8.
Mr. Marshall comes to the City from
Sears. Mr. Marshall is well qualified for
his job having owned Whites Auto Store in
Denton for a period of six years and prior
to that serving as Manager of Allen Butane
Retail Store.
Marshall came to Denton from BokChito,
Oklahoma where he served as Office Mana-
ger and accountant for Easter Butane Gas
Company.
Mr. Marshall and his wife live at 915
Aileen Street. She is a third grade teacher
at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School serv-
ing in her twelfth year.
The Marshalls have two grown sons. Gale
who teaches in Grapevine and John R. who
is a manager trainee with Sears at their Park
Plaza store in Kansas City. They also have
one grandson, age 3. The Marshalls are
members of Grace Temple Baptist Church and
he is a 32nd degree Mason.
