A new school year is upon us, and some new faces
have joined the local districts to instruct the students.
Goose Creek CISD has hired a total of 260 new
teachers for the 2018-2019 school year. Out of the new
teacher hires, 47 of them are graduates of Goose Creek.
Goose Creek also has a new police chief for the dis-
trict, 35-year-old Antonio Alfaro. This will be his first
full year to serve as police chief.

Barbers Hill ISD attained among the
highest marks in the state on the Texas
Education Agency’s new A-F account-
ability system. In fact, the district is one
of four similar-sized districts in Texas to
score all A’s.
“Every campus received an A and the
three major domains for us are A, A and A. Our over-
all district score is 95. This places BH in the 99th
percentile of achievement, ” Superintendent Dr. Greg
Poole said.
All seven district campuses earned a grade of 93
or higher.
The other similar-sized districts to achieve an over-
all high score of A were Carroll, Frisco and Highland
Park ISDs.
Under the 2018 A-F state accountability system,
153 school districts and charters earned an A rating
under the new system. There are about 1,200 school
districts and charters in Texas.
Parents are encouraged to visit TXschools.org to
view online report cards designed to be useful tools to
see how a school or district is doing in different areas.

tem, visit https://tea.texas.gov/A-F/.
