will be sponsoring a teen suicide pro-
gram today at 7 p.m. in the Camp
Fire Lodge.
Esther Quine, director of the
Suicide Prevention Center in
Amarillo, will be the guest speaker.
Quine is a member of the
American Association of Suicidology
and has served on the Mental Health
Advisory Committee for the Texas
Department of Mental Health-
Mental Retardation. She has 15 years
experience in the field of suicidology.
Recent statistics show that suicide
is the second leading cause of death
for youth with 18 young people a day
taking their lives. For every com-
pleted suicide, it is estimated that
there are about 150 attempts.
