Mr. Roy iller

Corpus Christ i, Texas
My doar Roy:
Thanks for yours of the 2.5th.
The advertisements of the Judge's opponent seem to ap-
pear on every other day. In ry opinion they have improved material-
ly in their text and in their appeal. However, the status and
prospect are dependent entirely on the problem of getting ou t the
vote. On what we term the mainland of Galvaston County - Texas
City, La !rgcue, Dickinson, League City, etc. - a big vote will be
polled because of a very hot race for commissioner from that
precinct, but in the city there seems to be a deplorable indif-
ference on the part of voters as to who will be elected congress-
mon, Supreme Court judge or attorney general.
I am closing you a clipping about the personal mat-
ter that I discussed with you some time back. This is only one
Of many reoormenuaticns that have been made to the Mayor, which
puts him, of course, on the spot to an extent. I would be unwill-
ing to participate in any plan to insist on his selecting any
individual. So there is nothing at all for you to do in the
premises until we know the Mayor's decision.
I was in houston yesterday, called on George Maercky
and was very pleasantly received. He tells me he is going to New
York Friday and will take up the scatter I mentioned to him with
the New York office, especially Mr. Judson, the treasurer, and
will do what he can to accomplish something.
Yours very truly,15
