NAPLES, Italy O—Rep. Edward
P. Boland iD-Mass > said today that
his weekend brush with the Com-
munists in East Berlin convinced
him of "Soviet predomination over
the phoney German Democratic
Republic.”
Boland arrived by plane last
night from Frankfurt after he, Rep
Harold C. Ostertag (R-NY) and
Mrs. Ostertag had been held by
Red German police in East Berlin
for four hours.
The East Germans said the
Americans' car, an Army sedan,
had a two-way radio in violation
of an East German law. The Rus-
sian deputy commandant for East
Berlin, Col. I. A. Kotsiuba. finally
ordered the American party’s re-
lease but supported the German
police position on the radio.
"Obviously,” said Boland today,
"we were released only after the
Russians had given the word. They
rule and run the place lock, stock
and barrel"*
Boland said the case of his de-
tention now is in the hands of the
U.S. Army headquarters at Heidel-
berg and that he did not intend to

More than 700 NTSC studentg
turned out this morning to receive
the first free chest X-rays from
the Texas State Health Depart-
ment's mobile unit in its first of
17 days in Denton.
The mobile unit, sponsored here
by the health department and the
Denton County Tuberculosis Asso-
ciation. will remain at NTSC
through Saturday noon.
All persons over 15 have been
urged by J W. (Dad) Pender, as-
sociation president, to take advan-
tage of the free chest X-ray unit
during its stay here.
Pender pointed out that the X-
ray takes only one minute, but is
a great help in locating tubercu-
losis in its early stages.
Following its stay at NTSC, the
Unit will move to TSCW Monday
and will stay there two days. On
Dec. 7, the unit will move to the
old Palace Theatre, where It will
remain through Dec. 15.
Hours during the towntown stay
will be from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
