Dallas had Fort Worth on the
ropes ready for the kill and Hous-
ton led Tulsa two games to one
Friday in the Texas League play-
offs.
Dallas whipped the Cats, 11-2,
Thursday night to make it three
straight. Houston outslugged Tul-
sa 9-7.
Both games were rhubarb-
marked with the one at Tulsa al-
most erupting into a free-for-all.
This contest also was full of home
runs. There were seven hit, four
by Houston, and there were six
double plays.
Young Tommy Bowers pitched
7-hlt ball while Andre Rodgers,
Bob Schmidt and Don Taussig
clubbed home runs in a 15-hit at-
tack that lowered Fort Worth to
the next to last gasp.
Manager Clay Bryant of Fort
Worth protested the struggle when
umpire Gerald Van Keuren de-
clined to thumb out Dallas second
baseman Alex Cosmidis for being
the aggressor in a fight with
Marty Devlin, the Cat second
sacker.

squeeze by the visitors 6-0.
Denton picked up its only score
in the second quarter when quar-
terback Dick Thomasson hit Joe
Cashon with a pass on the visi-
tor’s 32-yard stripe. From there,
Cashon galloped over for the
touchdown. The try for extra point
was no gool.
After that Denton threatened
several times but couldn't open
up the tough Amon Carter de-
fense- which usually bogged the
Pony attack down around the 20.
With three minutes left to play
in the final period, a Pony drive
stalled on the visitor's 4-yard
marker and the hall went over
on downs. After two plays through
the line, quarterback Bob Mills
of Amon Carter hit his end Ro-
bert Spellings on the 13-yard line
and the speedster was gone. Sev-
enty-nine yards later, he was
pulled down from behind on the
Denton 4-yard marker by Jerry
Brammer.

“Pete has been coming along

But I think he’ll get his confi-

McReynolds laid that his team
was “in pretty good shape with
just minor injuries.”. He stated
that Johnny Greer, a starting

to play.
“The team is in preUy good
