The program Saturday will fea-

School classes and organizations
have established food, soft: drink
and entertainment booths in the
community building, with all pro-
coeds earmarked for the Quarter-
back Club and its assistance to
the Bearcats football squad.
Nine students, one from each
class at the elementary school,
are competing for the queen’s hon-
or, Principal Charles Parton said.
Proceeds from the queen’s race
will be used to purchase class-
room materials pot provided for in
the school budget.

Absentee Ballots
A total of 218 absentee ballots
have already been mailed out for
Denton County residents who will
be oct of town during the Nov-
ember general election. County
Clerk A. J. Barnett said today.
Although 188 of the absentee bal-
lots were mailed out by last week-
end, only six have been returned.
"If's running about the same
right now as it was during the last
presidential election ia November
of 1982,” Barnett explained. A to-
tal of 188 absentee ballots were
counted in the 1982 election.

for Gordon Williams, 49, of Roan-
oke. who died Wednesday after-
noon of a heart attack, will bo
held in Denton at the Goon Chapel
Friday at 10:80 a.m. Burial will
be in Crisp Cemetery oast of En-
nis.
Mr. Williams was born in Ala-
mosa Springs, Ala., Oct. 1, 1807,
and lived in Texas about 35 years
and in Danton County about eight.
He to survived by his wife, Mrs.
Siddie B. Williams: two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Jasper Loe and Miss
Ada Lucille Williams, both of
Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Mary
Jackson of Ennis and Mrs. Ed
Steadham of Chireno; throe broth-
ers. Herman Williams of Chireno,
Almon of Port Arthur, and Gar-
land of the US. Army.
