Saturday in the Crystal Room of
Marquis Hall.
Mrs. L. O. Hayes and Mrs. Ho-
mer S. Curtis were hostesses for
the event. Karen Wilson register-

centered the table. Yellow crysan-
themums, snapdragons and white
asters and crysanthemums were
used in the arrangement, using

First Initiation
The Denton Theta Rho Girls
Club No. 26, sponsored by the Re-
bekah Lodge, conducted its first
initiation service Wednesday night
at the 10OF Hall.
R. E. Shepard, grand master of
Texas 100F and Mrs. Walter
Smith, member of the Rebekahs,
were candidates. Twenty girls
and nine members of the Rebekah
Lodges were present. Jeanne Mc-
Nary and Linda and Donna Ellis
served refreshments following the
ceremony. This was the fourth
meeting since the club was insti-
tuted.

Mrs. Ben W. Boyd of Denton
says she is “just relaxing" this
week after all the activities of last
week in Fort Worth. Mrs Boyd
was elected president of Texas
Federation of Women's Clubs at
the annual convention.
And she says she is just as proud
of the oscar she won as she is of
being elected president. Mrs. Boyd
was chairman of the Community
Achievement contest co-sponsored
by the General Federation and the
Sean Roebuck Foundation. She
was presented the oscar for her
work on the project
The Departmental Club of Port
Arthur was sweepstakes winner of
the contest as well as first place
winner in Group B for clubs hav-
ing more than SOO members. First
prize was IMO and sweepstakes
carried an additional $100. The Wo-
man’s Chamber of Commerce of
Dallas won second place prize of
$100.
First place winner for clubs hav-
ing less than 500 members was
the Young Woman’s Service
League of Donna, and second place

Denton County will be conducted at the Asbury Methodist Church
Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
, The school is held each year by the Denton County Council and
the Denton City Council, which alternates in supervision. This
year the County Council will be in charge.
Mrs. Willard Bounds of Sanger says a number of state workers
will be present to conduct the sessions. Mrs. Harry Rudloff of
Fort Worth, Mm J. C. Stafford of Duncanville, Mrs. R B. Reid of
Sherman and president of this district, Mrs. Peter Robinson and
Mrs. Paul Shobe, both of Gainesville, are among the state Isadora

Mrs. J. K. Delay conducted the
installation of officers for the 1958-
59 year. The ceremony was built
around the theme. “Making Mel-
ody.” Mrs. John H Crawford,
pianist, presented background
music during the ceremony, and
Mrs. W. C. Hendrixson led the
audience in singing “In My Heart
There Rings A Melody” to con-
clude the installation. Mrs. Ever-
ett Dennison dismissed the meet-
ing with the P-TA prayer.
Attendance awards were won by
Mrs. Orville Morriss’ fourth grade,
Kent Clark’s eighth grade and the
freshman class. Door prize was
awarded to Mack Bogard. Follow-
tag the program, refreshments
were served under the direction of
Mrs. E. E. Albright.

and South Asia and Africa; Mrs.
J. R. Selz of Pilot Point, hospital-

Mrs. Boyd said a number of
Denton County Clubs won awards
at the convention. The awards will
be announced by the-clubs. She
said the first meeting of the board
will be Oct. 2-3 in Denton at Hub-
bard Hall. It was voted to have the
next convention In Lubbock, May
46 next year. Mrs. Boyd was
elected to a two • year term.

MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED
Miss Nancy Jenkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Jenkins of Pilot Point and Capt C. L. Yeatts, son of
Mrs. C. L. Yeatts and the late C. L. Yeatts of Denton,
were married Saturday afternoon at the Calvary Bap-
tist Church of Pilot Point. The Rev. Charles Wadges
officiated in the double-ring ceremony. Following a
wedding trip to Lake Murray, the couple will be at
home at Lawton, Okla., where he is stationed with the
U.S. Army.

presented a play. “It Was a Quiet
Day in the Third Grade Class
Room of Mrs. Hilda Bell Snod-
grass” was the lengthy title of the
brief skit.
Pare’l Milchan portrayed the
teacher and students were Frank
Leffler, Louis Barr, the Rev. Ray
Flaherty, Buell Rainey. The Rev.
Mr. Flaherty, Milchan and Barr
sang “Lollypop" and Rainey pre-
sented a dance number.
AU this was dedicated to “Mo-
ther” at the church mother-
daughter banquet. Seventy - six
mothers and daughters were pre-
sent. Special recognition was giv-
en Mrs. Veta Lanford, the oldest
mother present, and Mrs. Douglas
Houbold, youngest mother. Cor-
sages were presented those honor-
ed and to Mrs. Ray Flaherty, wife
of the pastor, Mrs. R. W. Minnis,
president of the Woman’s Society
of Christian Service, and Mrs.
Richard Pearce, president of the
Wesleyan Guild. The WSCS and
the Guild co-sponsored the event.
Each daughter present was pre-
sented a rose corsage by Mrs. Sid
Campbell
