National Teacher Examinations,
required for prospective teachers
in many public school systems,
will be given in Denton June 23.
Dr. George C Beamer, director of
guidance at NTSC, has announced.
The examinations are designed
to provide Objective measure-
ments of background knowledge
and some specific abilities expect-
ed of teachers.
Candidates from the Dallas
schools will take the exams at
NTSC, Dr. Beamer said. Other
relatively large Texas districts re-
quiring the tests are Houston. Tem-
ple and Waco. .
Last year, approximately 130
persons other than NTSC students
took the examinations here.
Applicants will be examined in
two phases: a common examina-
tion and a tost of one special
area.
The latter may be selected from
among elementary education, ear-
ly childhood education, biology
and general science. English lan-
guage and literature, industrial
arts education, mathematics, so-
cial studies, physical education,
business education, music educa-
tion. or chemistry, physics and
general science.
Candidates receive reports of
scores directly and two reports
will be sent on request of the in-
dividual to school systems, civil
service commissions or other au-
thorised organisations.

Dear Del:
It is difficult for a young engag-
ed couple to be separated but per-
haps this is the best possible thing
that could have happened to you.
It appears that your girl is show-
ing an unpleasant side of her per-
sonality which she managed to
cover up as long as everything
was going according to her wishes.
Judging by your own descrip-
tion at her I would say she gives
every indication of being a poor
risk as a wife and mother be-
cause her thinking seems to be neg-
ative and self - centered. Appar-
ently she lacks appreciation for
exceptionally good fortune, toe-
having a nice home and parents,
plus an intelligent and sensitive
fiance.
There is one point, however,
which I think you should take into
consideration, Del. There are
many really nice people who men-
tally "clam - up” the minute they
are required to put their thoughts
down on paper. Even some top-
bracket business ekecutives find it
difficult to express themselves in
letters. So, rather than to judge
the girl on her letters alone. I think
it would be wiser to talk this sit-
uation over with her frankly. Ex-
plain how yoa feel, in about the
same way you wrote to' me. .
If. you still find her to be shal-
low. selfish and uncooperative my
advice is to be thankful for the
circumstances which took you
away from her where you could
get a clear perspective of the girl
-as a person, rather than just as a
dating companion. Otherwise you
might not have discovered these
things until it was too late!

Dear Mrs. Ricker;
I have a problem concerning the

we could see bach other only one

Mrs. Ricker, is it possible to get

and marriage, I mean.
But her letters are filled with
what I can only call tripe and they
make me wonder if she is pretty
shallow after all. She has very dice
parents who have done a great
deal for her — maybe even spoiled
