Heavyweights
Have Big Week
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
While Floyd Petterson and In-
germar Johansson spar at the con-
ference table with pen in hand,
heavyweights like Zora Folley,
Tony Anthony and Alex Miteff
keep the wheel spinning on the
week's boxing program.
Folley, No. 3 in Ring and No. 4
with the National Boxing Assn.,
takes on the Argentine Miteff in
a Thursday fight at Denver.
Miteff, stopped by Willi Besmanoff
in one round when he suffered a
leg injury, gets • big chance to
crash the high rankings. However,
Folley came back from his dis-
puted defeat by Henry Cooper in
England to stop Joe Bygraves.
Anthony prefers to shoot for the
big money among the heavies In-
stead of boxing in the light heavy
class where he is the No. 1 con-
tender. The rangy New Yorker
faces Ruben Vargas of Richmond,
Calif, in the feature bout Friday
at Madison Square Garden.
The Anthony-Vargas bout will be
carried on NBC radio-TV, starting
at 10 p.m. EST.
