to elect a new Student Government
Association president and vice presi-

of student affairs.

What clo you believe are your
qualifications?
JN: I've been a student at NT for
nearly three years. I've served the
College of Business as a senator in
the Student Government Associa-
tion. In this position, I have sat on
two faculty committees, chaired
by two senior administrative offi-
cials from the provost's office.
SM: I know most senators by
first name. I was a senator so I
know how that works. I was an in-
tern, as well.
What are your goals as SGA
president?
JN: I would like to improve com-
munication between the students
and the administration. I plan to
keep the Eagle's Nest of lice in place
and support it while also ensuring
that the opinions of the organiza-
tions represented by Eagle's Nest
are also represented in SGA. I am
also making it a priority to follow
up with the administration regard-
ing the parking issue here at NT.
There are also several academic
goals, which I have set along with
my running mate, Trey Connolly.
We would like to see the add/drop
period extended, and we also will
work to increase class availability.
SM: Development is a huge is-
tration," said Shana Gooch, speaker
of the senate. "[The president] is a
representative of the student body."
Beginning Monday, students can
vote online at www.unt.edu/sga un-
til Friday.
"In my opinion, I think the most
important part [of being president]
is keeping ties between the student
body and the administration there,"
said Alan Ross, current SGA presi-
dent.
The SGA will announce the win-
ners March 26 and their tenure be-
gins June 1, Gooch said.

sue. I want to unify the campus
internally and externally. A lot of
organization's mission statements
have the same goal. I want to bring
them in and unify them. Denton is
a college town and it doesn't feel
like it.
What changes would you like to
see on campus?
JN: I want to see a more excit-
ing atmosphere for students here at
NT. We want to plan more large-
scale events with help from other
organizations. Trey and I are also
extremely passionate about NT
Athletics. With the hiring of new
football coach Todd Dodge and the
top ranked performance of the bas-
ketball team, we feel that we would
be remiss if we didn't work hard to
promote attendance, spirit and or-
ganizational involvement through
our sporting events.
SM: Unifying the campus more.
I just really want the SGA to be
known on campus. I don't think
people know how much power the
SGA has. I feel like we're not do-
ing as much to get the name out,
but they're not as willing to come
to us either. It's a 2-way street.
