THE EXAMINER, McKINNEY, TEXAS, MAY 5, 1955
Inflation is a useful and necessary function. Its application is needed to bring out the beau-
ty in certain classes of objects, the usefulness of many articles and appliances and the proper
performance of others. A limited amount of inflation of certain persons’ ego may work to their
benefit. There is a point, however, where over-inflation is dangerous and often disastrous, wheth-
er it be a balloon, a tire, a self-inflated personal ego, or the currency of a nation. An over-in-
flated ego may lead to tyranny and oppression.
If we seek the counsel and guidance of the Church we are less likely to become obesssed
with our own importance—become over-inflated. Truly great men were invariably humble men
and much more often than not they depended upon the Church to supply them with a true sense
of values.
