(AP). — Rear Admiral Samuel
Wood Bryant. U. S. N., who was
retired last year because of a dis-
ability suffered in service, died last
night at his home here.
Bryant had been ill for several
months. The body will be sent to-
day to Washington for burial in
Arlington National cemetery.
He was decorated with the navy
cross for meritorious service in the
World war. He commanded a tor-
pedo boat destroyer off the coasts
of Irelan. and France and later
destroyer flotillas in European
waters. Later, ne was commander
of the battleship division of the U. I
S. fleet.
He was born May 24, 1877, in
' Washington, Penn. He married
Miss Carolina F. Merry of San
Francisco in 1905, and there were
