May 7 — Democratic Primary Election for nomina-
tion of candidates for precinct, county district and
state offices, U. S. representatives and U. S. senator
(one).
May 7 — Democratic and Republican precinct con-
ventions to select delegates to county conventions.
May 14 — Democratic county conventions to select
delegates to state conventions.
May 14 — Republican conventions to select delegatee
to district and state conventions and nominations
candidates for precinct and. county offices.
May 28 — Republican district conventions to nomi-
nate candidates for district offices.
. May 30 — Republican state convention to nominate
candidates for state offices and United States senator.
June 4 — Democratic runoff primary election.
June 14 — Republican state convention to select
delegates and alternates to Democratic National con-

3 cups quick cook oats
1 cup nuts
1 cup coconut
8 tablespoons cocoa.
2 cups sugar
% cup milk
1 stick butter or Oleo
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix oats, nuts, coconut and
cocoa together and set aside.
Boil sugar, milk, and butter or
Oleo together for one minute.
Add vanilla to boiled mixture.
Add to dry ingredients and
drop from spoon on wax paper
and let cool. Makes about 5
dozen cookies.

Miss Schrader, a recent first place winner in the Dia
trict 25-A extemporaneous speaking contest, has been
named a delegate to Girls. State in Austin, June 8
through June 17 of this year. This is the first time
in several years that a girl from the Katy High School
Wallis High School Tuesdayy
April 19. This was considered
one of the largest and best cor-
onations -ever staged at the
Wallis school, with a full cap-

Surprise Party
Honors Three,
A surprise birthday party was
given on March 31 for Mrs. Da-
vid Meyer and Mrs. Leslie Wit-
tenburg in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Erwin Eckelberg of Hous-
ton. Both were deeply surprised
and honored on this occasion.
Along with Mrs Meyer and
Mrs. Wit tenburg celebrating her
birthday also was Mrs. Alvin
Garling.
A barbecue chicken and tur-
key dinner, with all the trim-
mings, was served to around 40
guests. The afternoon was spent
talking and playing dominoes.
An afternoon lunch consisting
of cakes, coffee, punch and oth-
er drinks was served.
Many nice and useful gifts
were received and all were
thanked by the three.
Those who attended were Mr.
and Mrs. David Meyer and Don-
na Lynn, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie
Wittenburg and Ronnie Lae,
Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Eckelberg,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ludwig
and sons and M. and Mrs. Al-
fred Wittenburg all of Houston,
Mrs. Herman Barten, Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Aurich and daugh-
ters, and Harold Peischel, all of
Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Garling and Eva Nell, Mr. and
Mrs Homer Meyer and Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Meyer all of Cat
Spring and Eddie Ray Lux of
Sealy.
Those attending in the after-
noon were Mr. and Mrs. Orville
Stuessel and Sandra of Sealy
and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Stues-
sel of Houston.

High Track Team
Places Fourth
Ten Seely Junior High track
boys were entered in events at
the Junior High District Track
Meet in Katy. Sealy entered in
all events.
The John Foster Dulles Vik-
ings won the track meet with
40 points; second went to East
Bernard with 32 points; Katy
placed third with 25 points and
Sealy won fourth with 19
points. -
Results of Sealy boys are as
follows:
Mrs. Banfield is Girls State Chairman for the spon-
soring organization, the Fort Bend County American
Legion Auxiliary of Rosenberg. Girls State is a prac- ■
tical application of Americanism and good citizenship.
City, county and state government are studied. The en-
tire program is a non-partisan, non-political attempt to
teach and inoculate in the youth of America a love of
God and country.

Donna Lynn Meyer, infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David
Meyer of Houston, was honored
with a baptismal Easter dinner
in the home of Mr. and Mrs
Homer Meyer. The dinner was
given by her grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ervin Eckelberg of
Houston, and Mr. and Mrs.
Homer Meyer of Cat Spring.
A turkey and ham dinner,
with all the trimmings, was
served to 31 guests. The after-
noon waa spent talking and
playing dominoes. An afternoon
lunch consisting of cakes, coffee
and punch waa served.

the 11:15 a.m. service at St.
John’s Lutheran Church, Cat
Spring, by the Rev. Richard

ciology at Texas Lutheran Col-
lege, will be the guest speaker
at the annual banquet of the
Washington-Austin Chapter of
the Texas Lutheran College Ex-
Student Association. The meet-
ing will be held on Friday, April
29 at Willie’s Steak House in
Brenham. The program will get
underway at 7:00 p.m.
Vernon Zunker, dean of men
at Texas Lutheran College, will
also be present at the annul af-
fair and will give a progress re-
port on TLC.
Officers of the chapter are
Elwood Schomburg, Bellville,
president; Melvin Pohlmeyer,
Brenham, vice president; Mrs.
Leonard Sager, Bellville, treas-
urer; and Mrs. Jiarvey Schiller,
Bellville, secretary.
Exes are reminded to make
their reservations to Mrs. Paul
Gindorf, Brenham, by April 26.

Third Place Winners
The Wharton County Junior
College track team won third
place in the Blinn College track
relays last Tuesday. They won
first in the 440 yard relays,
first in the 100-yard dash and
first in broad jump.
The Pioneers were nosed out
of second place by Schreiner In-
stitute by only one-half a point.
Blinn College won the meet
with a score of 68 points;
Schreiner had 42 and the Pion-
eers 41%. Lee, Temple, and
Concordia College placed fourth
fifth and sixth, respectively.
J. W. Luedke of Bellville won
first in the 100-yard dash.
