In the meantime, remember nothing is different
but the location. We will continue to offer th

NEW ORLEANS un - The Na-
tional Collegiate Athletic Assn.'s
Advisory Council watched the
University of Cincinnati today to
see what action it plans to com-
ply -with an indefinite probation
sentence.
The NCAA's 18 - man Council
slapped the penalty on Cincinnati
Wednesday for the school’s 53-
year-old cooperate education
plan.
There were indications from the
school Wednesday night that it
might defy the ruling. '
Dr- Walter C. Langsam, univer-
sity president, said school officials
feel they have done nothing
wrong and the ruling “does not
mean we are going to give up the
co-op system for the sake of the
NCAA,” '
The NCAA decided grants-in-
aid to 13 football and basketball
players, plus their on-the-job
salaries under the cooperative
system put them over the NCAA-
allowed limit on financial help.
Under the co-op program, stu-
dents attend classes for seven
weeks and then work at paying
jobs for seven weeks. ,
The Council ordered Cincinnati
to make an adjustment in its
studen-athlete fnancil aid setup
and report to the Council in Oc-
tober.
The Council then can either lift
the probation or impose stringent
penalties if corrections' are not
made, said Walter Byers, NCAA
executive director.
