Danger In the Aloat.
The Dos Keptiblioas our ostem-
ed local Spanish contemporary in
its issue of yesterday calls the at-
tention of the city authorities to o
matter of grave importance and
that is the charge that meat" of a
very questionable quality is being
sold m the city market. Tun Her-
ald stated a day or twj ago that
the number of eases of sickness
from some form of indigestion oc-
curring here recently was believed
to be du to the . poor quality of
meat Sold in the market. If the
charges referred to Nbe true there
can be no doubt that thjs is the
cause of it. The public welfare is
serjonsly mooaced by the sale of
meat that is unfit for entitle: and a
strict inspection of all the meat
sold in the city should be made Ly
duly qualified officials. The meat
aud specially the sausage which is
sold on the streets should all be
viewed with suspicion as some ter-
rible things are being told about
where it comes from. Tim author-
ities should use prompt measures
to insure cleanliness at the market
and to prevent tin sale of any un-
wholesome article of food.
