belligerent MiiaissiDDian nctrlr
ctHM to bldwi witk Senator TtW
Hilton over the litter's allegation
that the senators who went to
Cuba to investigate the conditions
tkere amongst whom was Mr.
MoHy- were hired to do so by a
New York newspaper. It is evident
that Money lima bad temper. He
reflects discredit upon his own
State aud upon the country in
geaeral and should be retired lu
tke shades of private life where
he could vent his ill . nature with-
out offending public propriety.
Plant rice.
Irrigation's the thing.
Now just watch Cameron coun-
ty grow.
The state of Mississippi ought to
be called to account for circulating
bad Money.
There will be a crop in this
county raiu or no rain the ir
rigation comoany will provide the
water.
Yoakum now has a cuifew ordin
auoe and the boys of that town
will no longer be permitted to
wander ou the streets after nine
o'clock at night.
The apologists for the beet
trust are sure that the scarcity of
beeves slaughtered is the cause of
the increased Dries of beet but
they earefully refrain from sug
gesting the obvious remedy for
inch acouditioo which is to let
down the high tariff bars and al
low foreign cattle to come is to
supply the market. Better that
the musses of the people should
pay double prices for their daily
meat supply or lacking the price
do without tbHt article of food
than that the millionaire beef
men should lose any percentage of
their profits.
The silver oloud whieh obscures
the financial skies of Mexico doubt-
less has a golden lining. Still it
is none the less a threatening
cloud. The continued downward
trend of the white metal is without
doubt giving even the ablest of
Mexican financiers some troubled
moments. In fact unless the situa-
tion should be soon relieved by an
improvement in the silver markets
it sceins-wore than likely that a
serious crisis will confront the re-
public. To continue the silver
standard- or to adopt the gold
standard? This is the question
which Mexico is believed to be
considering today. Much hinges
upon the outcome and- the situa-
tion is one which commands the
closest attention.
The disgraceful affair in which
Mr. Minify the beligerent senator
from lisfiksippi figured as a
principal the other day in ' Wash-
ington should panne the legislature
of that suite to request him to re-
aitfti. A man who would fight a
street car conducter over h fiv
cent ftiir assaulting him with
pocket knife aud subject himself
to arrest and trial on a criminal
charge not fit to be a inewbtr
of the United States senate. This
is not the first scrimmage in which
Mr. Money has been eueagd din-
ing his career in congress Wltea
still a member of the lower honsi
he bud an altercstion with one of
his colleagues in which he called

Cougress Mr. Moody is well kuowu
among uaval meu aud in govern
meut circles (generally and those
best acquainted with him express
the opinion that he will bring into

many new ideas.
