Dr. Edward Bolton arrived in Aus-
tin Saturday, and will be in the hls-
tory department during the summer
session. •E Bolton and family made
Austin their home for several years
when Dr. Bolton Was connected with
the University. and since leaving they
have been living in California. Many
old friends will be delighted to see
Dr. Bolton again as he was one of
the most popular professors ever in

connection with Captain Pollard's
xisit He will receive his diploma and
degree as master of arte, after a forty
years' interval. Just before gradua-
tion forty yaers ago Captain Pollard
and a professor, the head of a depart-
ment. became involved in a dispute
and the teacher refused to eign Cap-
tain Potlard’s diploma, and when h
was offered to him minus One signa-
ture he proudly and promptly de-
clined to receive it and never would
take it immediately the Virginia
Military Institute Alumni Association
elected him to full membership, as
