The Austin Housewives league met
at the Chamber of Commerce Tues-
day afternoon, July 1.
The feature of the afternoon was

bies whose parents are unable to
furnish sufficient at the prevail-
ing high prices.
Miss Cruse devotes her whole time
to this work and a salary of $100
a month is paid by ths Mothers'
clubs of Austin and ths city.
Ths Mothers' contribute $50 a
month and ths city $50.
Even cent contributed by aid so-
cieties and other clubs and individ-
uals is devoted to furnishing milk
and other necessary things to ths
neglected little ones, who otherwise
would be denied proper nourishment.

ing the Austin city council for steps
taken to complete Austin’s sewer
system, and so stop the contamina-
tion of the water supply.
A resolution was also passed peti-
tioning the city to discontinue the
dumping of tin cans along ths banks
of Shoal and Waller creeks
No city ever had more beautiful
natural parks than the banks of these
beautiful creeks would furnish, if
only they were clean and wholesome,
as Gori intended them to be.
The report of Mrs. Walker, the
food inspector, was interesting, espe-
cially when she told of the unfail-
ing courtesy of vendors of every na-
tionality. and their attempts to com-
ply with the law.
The league adjourned to meet
again the first Tuesday in October.
There will be a meeting of the
league board, composed of the chair-
men of committees and officers of
the Housewives’ league the first Tues-
day afternoon of each month.
