Ban Antonio, Texa*. Dec. 22.—
Tha John Henry Kirby of Hous-
ton. and not former Senator Joseph
Weldon Bailey, will make the race
for governor on the Bailey ticket
in the democratic primaries is said
to be practically a certainty. The
authority for this statement. Who is
unusually reliable, (declared that the
idea would be acceptable to'Mr. Bai-
ley.
The former senator is credited
with having told friends that he
hardly could make the, sacrifice to ,
to make the race, but that if no
one else could be found he would
mzke the race himself. The- use of.
Mr. Kirby's name in this connection
is said to have clinched the matter.
While some profess to believe that ’
Mr Bailey will yet consent to make
the race, close students of the po-
litical situation frankly express
doubt that he will do so.
