Sept. S. Owing to a lack of
news it has been some time since
I wrote you. We had one good rain
last month and several very small
showers. The weather has been
dry. We are now about at the end
of summer and I can say that it
has been a very mild one. Last
month was exceptionally mild.
only a few davs in which the
thermometer went to 98 can be re
ported. I hope next year will be as
pleasant but am afraid it will be a
scorcher.

I understand there is a good deal
of malaria at Alice. I hope that

border. He will -if we fight his
mermydons the "skeeters."
Owing to the slow way of doing
business at the postal department
we have no postoffice as jet. A
week or two more and we will have
