Pick-up said
behind schedule
Garbage pick-up schedules
ran behind early this week
because of the breakdown of
equipment used in the city
operation, “but.” says City
Manager Dick Brown, “we'll
work overtime until normal
schedules are met." ,
The city manager said he
expected to have all regular
garbage runs resumed by the
middle of the week.

The desire to live is one of
the strong instincts or desires
of a human being. Yet life
hangs by such a slender
thread. Tuesday of this week, a
little child, possibly a little
over a year in age, apparently
was given an aspirin. She got
choked on it. On her arrival at
the Methodist Hospital in
Weslaco, there was not one
second delay by a battery of
doctors and nurses who sought
to revive her, but to no avail.
Yes, life hangs by such a
slender thread, yet we so often
walk this earth as though we
had a lease on life forever. But
it is not so. That surety lies
beyond for those who in
humility lay hold of him who is
the Lord of Life.
