Cheers
• Cheers to the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabe-
tes Research Foundation and their success fund-raising
“Havana Nights” gala. A record night helped raise a net
profit of $72,000. Local board president Laurie Terry
said it was the most successful gala in the 16-year his-
tory of the event. Congratulations.
• Cheers to Emily Patrick, an English teacher at IM-
PACT Early College High School and Carrie Robinson,
community connections librarian at Sterling Municipal
Library for launching Project LIT Baytown. Project
LIT is a grassroots literacy movement. Baytown is one
of 500 chapters in over 40 states.
• Cheers to the Library Story Bar, a combination of
technology and reading services that offers a number
of different and appealing subjects. There are monthly
collections to be enjoyed at Sterling Municipal Library.
Set up at the former circulation counter, visitors can
enjoy a unique experience in iPads. The bar has been
a success and is an example of the great things taking
place at the library.
