Guy was very humor-
ous and full of laughter.
He was a friendly, out-
going, helpful and caring
man.
Guy enjoyed going fish-
ing, hunting, scuba diving
and cooking crawfish. He

Myrtle Louise (Pfef-
fer) Hudgins, 86, kept her
3:52 pm appointment with
God and entered heaven
on February 21, 2019 af-
ter a five year battle with
multiple myeloma blood
cancer.
Myrtle was bom in Bell-
ville, Texas on February
17, 1933 to parents Louis
and Gladys Pfeffer and
was raised on the family
farm with her sister Au-
drey, brother Larry and
nearby cousins. Life on
the farm was hard but also
idyllic with garden fresh
veggies, fresh dairy, beef
and poultry. Everything
was homemade.
While growing up, Myr-
tle’s family were all mem-
bers of St. John Lutheran
Church in Bellville where
Myrtle was also confirmed
in 1945. Myrtle attended
Bellville schools and grad-
uated from high school in
1950.
After high school, Myr-
tle worked at Bellville
Hospital in the nursing
program until she married
Gordon Ralph Hudgins in
1951. Myrtle and Ralph

Sager, 82, of Cove, Tex-

ly on Saturday, March 2,
2019.
He was born on January
19, 1937 to the late Clar-
ence Ray and Alice Eliza-
beth Sager.

High School where he

dy went to his heavenly
home March 2, 2019. He
was bom May 31,1922 in
Kirvin, Texas to William
Virgil and Mary Cross
Weeks Horton. Seventh
bom of 9 children, Bud
was the son of a share
cropper, moving from
location to location fi-
nally settling in Troup,
Texas, where he attend-
ed and graduated from
Salem School. It is here
that Otha and Elsie were
classmates. Not until af-
ter graduation and joining
the Navy did he catch the
eye of Elsie Louise Wil-
son. They corresponded
through letter writing and
on one of his personal
times off from the Navy,
Otha and Elsie went on
a bowling date, and then
over to the pastor’s home
and got married - Novem-
ber 25, 1944.
Otis Otha was preceded
in death by his parents;
his wife of 72 years; and
infant daughter, Martha
Joan Horton. He is also
preceded in death by 4
brothers and 3 sisters.

hind his daughter, Lora
Kathleen (Kathy) Nelson
and son-in-law, Roger
Dale Nelson of Baytown,
Texas; 3 grandchildren,

James Lee Eskew, 88,
of Magnolia, Texas passed
away from this earth to be
home with his Heavenly
Father, on Sunday, March
3,2019.
James was born Sep-
tember 12, 1930 in Wink,
Texas, to parents; Otey
L. Eskew and Josephine
Presley Eskew. He was
a fonner resident of

three seasons on “Riverdale,” the CW series that gives
a dark take on “Archie” comics. Perry gained fame on
“Beverly Hills, 90210,” which ran from 1990 to 2000.

Charles is survived by
his wife, Jeanette Sager;

and James Sager; daugh-
ter; Linda (Gary) Flynt,
Walter ((Sandra) Jeffers,
Chris (Theresa) Turpin
and Gonzalo (Caroli-
na) Rios; grandchildren,
Kayce (Jason) Prater,
Cade Sager, Kendra (Jim)
Ponder, Charles and Jon-
athon Flynt, Cassidy and
Courtney Makris, Anna
Lauren Jeffers and Mi-
chael (Shelby) Marcon-
tell; great-grandchildren,
soon moved to Baytown,
Texas, where as a full-
time Mom, she raised four
children; Robert (Bobby),
Alan, Steve and Cathy.
Myrtle also worked as a
Nursing Assistant while
her kids were in high
school.
Myrtle was a member
of Redeemer Lutheran
Church in Bay town for
60 years, taught Sunday
school, led club meetings
and volunteered thousands
of hours in service.
Myrtle’s precious joys
in life were her family and
pets, talking to relatives/
friends, cooking/baking,
gardening, backyard bird-
ing and nature.
Myrtle’s 15 minutes
of fame happened in
Longview, Texas many
years ago. World-famous
magician David Copper-
field chose Myrtle from
the audience to be part of
his “floating rose” magic
trick on stage. Myrtle kept
the magic rose and loved
the kiss from David.
Myrtle’s last whispered
words were, "When I’m
gone, I want y’all to say
nice tilings about me.”
Her son Alan replied, “We
will Mother because we
all love you.”
Myrtle was preceded in
death by her firstborn son

fixture around the club for
many years. His legacy as
Shrine Club workere and
cabinet maker helped the
Bay town Shrine Club to
be so successful. He nev-
er said no to hard work,
when asked.
‘Double O’ was a mem-
ber of Second Baptist
Baytown. He also partic-
ipated in the Senior Citi-
zen Choir group - singing
at different assisted liv-
ing facilities and nursing
homes in the Baytown/
Highlands area.
Otha and Elsie both
loved bowling and partic-
ipating in bowling leagues
most of their adult lives.
They took great pride in
their home. They always
kept their yard mowed
and trimmed neatly. Also,
Elsie loved working in her
flower beds, keeping them
well manicured. . For a
time, they kept a garden
in their back yard. Ev-
ery year they canned dill
pickles and made home-
made fig and pear pre-
serves. Otha took great
interest in his Pecan tree
each year, harvesting the
pecans; cracking; clean-
ing; and bagging them.
Some went into the freez-
er, some were shared with
family members, and he
took orders from friends
that wanted to purchase
them from him.
The family will re-
ceive friends for visitation

Christian, he served in
many capacities at Mis-
souri Street Church of
Christ in Baytown and
Community Christian
Church in The Wood-
lands. He was married to
Patsy Ann Crim in Kilgo-
re, Texas on August 14,
1953. Most precious to
James; being a Christian,
husband, father, grandfa-
ther, and great-grandfa-
ther.
Mr. Eskew was preced-
ed in death by his par-
ents and sister: Bernelle
Eskew Harsdorff. He is
survived by his wife of 65
husband Ralph, (July
2006); mother Gladys,
(October 2017); and neph-
ew Michael Davis, (Feb-
ruary 2018).
She is survived by three
children, Alan Hudgins of
Baytown, Steve Hudgins,
(Lainey) of Lago Vista,
Texas, and Cathy Hudgins
of Baytown; her sister
Audrey Davis of Slocum,
Texas, brother Larry Pfef-
fer (Lynn) of Lindale,
Texas, niece Sharon Dav-
enport, (Jim) of Palestine,
Texas, niece Brenda De-
Leon (Henry) of Hock-
ley, Texas, niece Molly
Escalante (Ryan) of Mag-
nolia, Texas and nephew
David Pfeffer of Victoria,

‘Double O’ retired from
Ashland Oil Refinery in
Baytown, Texas. He was
a skilled carpenter. Not
only did he help to build
both his homes, he helped
to build many churches in
the Baytown area.
O.O. Served in the U. S.
Navy from June 17, 1941
until November 23, 1946.
He entered the Navy as
a Seaman Second Class,
eventually ranking Chief
Petty Officer. He was an
aviation machinist mate
on the USS Lexington
CV-2 aircraft carrier. The
USS Lexington was crit-
ically damaged by Jap-
anese forces during the
Battle of the Coral Sea on
May 8, 1942 and the US
Navy was forced to scut-
tle it. The aircraft carri-
er has since been located
500 miles off the coast of
Australia - 76 years af-
ter being sunk. 216 crew
members and 35 aircraft
went down with the ship.
2,770 crewmen and of-
ficers were rescued by
awaiting US ships.
Otha was a member of
the Goose Creek Masonic
Lodge in Baytown, Texas.
He volunteered at many
Shriner’s Circus events in
Houston, Texas. He also
participated in several pa-
rades and worked many
oyster fry fund raisers.
He built most of the cab-
