No charges have yet been
filed in the Friday night
shooting that left a 34-year-
old man hospitalized, but
Baytown police spokes-
man Lt. Steve Dorris said
the man who was shot is
expected to face family vi-
olence charges once he is
released from the hospital.
Dorris said the man ap-
parently got into an argu-
ment with his wife and the
argument turned violent,
with the man assaulting his
wife.
The couple’s 16-year-old
son tried to protect his moth-
er, leading the 3 4-year-old
man to hit and choke him.
The 16-year-old was able to
retrieve a shotgun and fired
it at least two times at the
older man, striking him in
the arm and side.
Dorris said that when
officers arrived at the res-
idence in a mobile home
park in the 2800 block of
Massey Tompkins Drive
about 10:40 p.m., the man
was on the ground and
bleeding heavily. One of the
officers applied a tourniquet
to the man’s arm as a life-
saving measure.
The man was flown to
Memorial Hermann Hos-
pital, where he underwent
surgery for his injuries.
The Harris County Dis-
trict Attorney’s Office de-
termined not to pursue
charges against the 16-year-
old, but will pursue family
violence charges against the
father.
Charges are frequently
delayed until an injured
suspect is discharged from
the hospital.
