the District 1 City Council seat. Incumbent
Laura Alvarado and former councilman
Mercedes Renteria, who held the seat prior
to Alvarado’s election, are running and hope

To bring the Battleship Texas to Baytown, Bayto-
nians showed heart.
At a video shoot Saturday at the Battleship Texas
Historic site, about 125 people, mostly from Baytown
with some from La Porte, joined Russell Hamman, a
Golden Groove Senior Dance - this Friday night
Enjoy an evening of live music from Rob Austin and dancing with
friends, held in the Baytown Community Center Auditorium 2407 Market
St. Bring a dish to share or just come to enjoy the music from 7 to 10 p.m.
This event is free and open to everyone ages 50 and up.

together,” Hamman said. “I was truly inspired by the

p.m. Sunday, according to the Har-
ris County Sheriff’s Office.

A deceased man found
south of Stowell in Cham-
bers County Saturday has
been identified as 35-year-
old Joshua Nicholas
Branch, according to Sher-
iff Brian Hawthorne.
Branch lived in Galves-
ton, Hawthorne said, and
was reported missing to
Galveston police Oct. 30.
At that time Branch’s fa-
ther, who made the report,

Branch’s identity was ini-

Once Branch was identi-

ton County Sheriff’s Office
started assisting.
Police dogs from Galves-
ton joined in the search, but
neither the dogs nor inves-
tigators found anything that
suggested violence.
“The Sheriff’s Office is
investigating this as a case
of possible foul play, but
at this time we do not now
the cause of death and are
awaiting autopsy results
from the Jefferson County
Medical Examiner’s Of-
fice,” Hawthorne said.
