In the “Development details locked down” story that ran
on Page 1 on March 13, The Sun misidentified the project’s
name and location. The development’s actual name is “The
Crossings at Baytown,” a project inside city limits at Inter-
state 10 and Crosby Cedar Bayou. It will include a mix of
uses including single-family homes, townhomes, multi-fam-
ily homes and commercial uses.

generator transfer caused plant flow

Student’s kidney transplant a success
It appears the kidney transplant between siblings will
turn out positively for both.
Melinda Nettles - mother to both Gavin and Haleigh
Nettles - who were involved with a kidney transplant to
brother from sister - says that both are doing well a week
after the delicate procedure.
“Things are great,” Melinda Nettles said. “He’s mov-
ing around and feels pretty good. My daughter is sore but
good. She is going back home tomorrow, and the doctors
are very pleased with everything.”
Haleigh, 25, flew in from Arizona to provide a kidney
for Gavin, 17, who had been without one since last year.
The procedure took place last Wednesday as Haleigh
had her kidney removed at St. Luke’s and Gavin received
it at Texas Children’s Hospital, where he had taken dial-
ysis for months.

the opportunity to follow the chaplains to see how they
conduct their days with patients and understand how
the spiritual care component is important to the pa-
tient’s recovery.
“These rotations are a valuable complement to the
student’s classwork and allow them to learn more about
the many opportunities in the health care field when de-
tennining their career path,” she said.
DeTorre added the 2021 Health Science Academy
program began this year with about 450 students in all
four grade levels.
“The students start as freshmen and advance in all
grade levels to prepare with continued health-care
knowledge and progress to certifying in practicums
their senior year,” DeTorre said.
The practicums can certify in: Pharmacy Technician,
Certified Nurses Aid, Clinical Medical Technician - in-
cluding extra certifications in phlebotomy and/or elec-
trocardiograms.
DeTorre said the advisory committee and faculty
added the dual credit EMT-B basic course with Lamar
Institute of Texas program for 2021-2022. In addition,
the hospital hired almost 60 Health Science Academy
students in the last three years.
Aaron S. Demerson, Texas Workforce Commission
Commissioner Representing Employers, congratulat-
ed Goose Creek CISD on the remodeling of Sterling
High School’s Health Science Academy on behalf of
the TWC and Gov. Greg Abbott.
“The academy creates a direct talent pipeline for
local employers such as Houston Methodist Baytown
Memorial Hospital and Baytown Modem Dentistry and
many more,” Demerson said. “This is very timely as we
make progress toward this pandemic and see firsthand
the high demand of health care occupations. It reminds
me of a quote, ‘Not all superheroes wear capes, some
wear sembs.”’

In longer tenns, Simoneaux said
to have a design consultant come in
and evaluate which systems need to
be improved to harden the facility in
case of this event. He also suggest-
ed having $100,000 to help insulate
tanks. Getting a grant might help to
pay for the cost, Simoneaux said.
Simoneaux said to also procure
generators for well sites and insulate
chlorine feed at these sites. Plus, pro-
tect all exposed pipes and pumps.
