These funds originated
as a result of the federal
Omnibus Anti-Drug Act
of 1988. I was a co-sponsor
of this legislation and
worked hard in Washington
for its passage. I am
now working just as hard
in Johnson County to
begin providing a drug-

all of its citizens. I hope
you will join me in this
attempt. If you would

Of course! the area, we are alive
to correct the situation.
There were few guidelines
for us to follow. We were
forced to innovate and
create as we went along.
I am proud of what we
have accomplished. I
don't know that there
is another program exactly
like ours anywhere in
Texas or in the country
for that matter. Being
a part of this endeavor
has been exciting and
rewarding. It has also
taken most of my time
and energies for the last
7 years (lust ask my hus-
band, children and grand-
children).
I am, as a rule, not
easily angered. This situa-
tion is an exception.
I AM ANGRY! If someone
has a complaint about
our services, please have
the courtesy to bring
the problem to our atten-
tion.
A campaign of unfound-
ed rumors is difficult
to combat and does nothing
to correct the problems.
The people who are most
damaged by this spreading
of false information are
the people who need our
services the most, and
have nowhere else to
obtain the help we offer.

tions about the services

Dear Mr. Magness:
I vant to share with
you some exciting news
that will have an impact
on every family residing
in Johnson County. On
May 1, 1990, the Gover-
nor’s Criminal Justice
Division informed me
that the Johnson County
"Stop the Offenders Task
Force" had been awarded
$509,541 to fund a staff
of fulltime narcotics
officers for the Johnson,
Hood, and Somervell Coun-
ty area.
The newly created
task force's operations
will be directed through
the Johnson County Dis-
trict Attorney's office.
Johnson County had pre-
viously been included
in a nine county task
force called the "Agriplex
Roadrunners" that was
coordinated by the Sheriff's
Department. Johnson,
Hood, and Somervell coun-
ties will now have a sepa-
