and History where they saw the LeBrea Tar Pit (an exhibit
of animals from a period of time that was 20,000 to
40,000 years ago). They ate lunch at Furr's cafeteria.
Perhaps the most fun part of the entire trip was the
visit to the Dollar Store in Ridgmar Mall where many
purchases of a dollar were made by the students.
Pat Russell's 3rd graders are creating dioramas of
different environments, such as desert, tundra, grasslands,
and forests. Students have finished their symbols designed
to represent their families for the quilt they wi"
making.
George Washington had johnny cakes for breakfast
on his birthday, February 22, 1778, during the Revolution-
ary War, and Rhonda Stanford's 3rd graders celebrated
Wshington’sgbirthday by making johnny cakes on his
Mrs. Stanford's class monitored the movement of
some posters.
Mrs. Myers' class has been studying space, and students
designed homemade helmets, space ships, and air tanks.
They invaded the kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade class-
rooms and studied young earthlings while showing off
their space gear.
Nancy Bridge's 4th and 5th grade Reading classes
have completed their 4th six weeks Reading contest.
Prizes are awarded to those who read the most pages. —
