Fireworks Sales
On Streets Banned j
By an order of the city council.
Chief of Police Harvey Olmon an-
nounced Tuesday that the sale of
' fireworks in open stands on the
streets would be prohibited during
the Christmas and New Year's sea-
sons.
“Because of hazards brought
about by the presence of explosives
in the business district, the coun-
cil feels that all fireworks should
be sold inside stores," Mayor Tan-
ner explained in an interview.

caped injuries when a quantity of
fireworks was iginted in front of

On the courthouse square a gi-
gantic Christmas tree, 50 feet
high, is lighted with some 300 blue
lights and is visible for a great
distance over town. On the north,
side .of the courthouse above the
entrance are Christmas scenes
lighted by the indirect lighting of
large candles. A silhouette of
Santa and the reindeer is directly
in front of the handpainted scenes.
The central theme of the decora-
tions on the front of the First
State Bank depict the Biblical
story of the three Wise Men as
they journeyed by camel-back to
the far-distant city of Bethlehem.
The door is outlined with Christ-
mas greenery and entwined with
