Work on the new Methodist
church will begin shortly the
foundation having been completed
some time ago. The Baptists will
also erect a house of worship in the
early part of.' the new year. "Funds
are being secured for building a
church for the English speaking
Catholics. When these churches
have been completed with the
edifices already erected for public
worship Brownsville will become
famous as a city of churches.
The report is current today
a very unwelcome change in
pxssenger si
. rilf
on tne up"
Pass has revised and changed its
schedule and a change will be
necessary with the Coast Line in
order to make proper connections
at Sinton. The change on the Sap
was made without notice to the
St. L. B. & M. a fact not under
stood by this road. According to
the prospective change 'the train
will arrive here much later than
the present schedule which will
throw the mail very late a matter
very generally regretted by the
people of Brownsville.
The Herald is requested to an-
nounce that Rev. Jas. O. Reavis

byterian church Sunday morning
at 11 o'clock. Rev. Reavis is one
of the secretaries of the executive
committee of foreign missions of
the Southern Presbyterian church
and is on his way to visit the mis-
sion fields of Mexico especially
those of the State of Tamaulipas.
He will arrive this afternoon ac
companied by Mrs- Reavis who
will go with him to Mexico. The
couple will spend two weeks in-
specting the work in our sister re-
public this being the only spare
time at the disposal of Rev. Reavis
at present.
A special train came in last
everning having on board Jeff N.
Miller vice-president and general
manager of the Gulf Coast Line

The object of the visit was to at-

Rio Grande railroad company at
which meeting new directors and
officers were elected which'will be
found in report of the meeting
elsewhere in today's Herald.
At this meeting the managennent
of theRio Grande railroad was
assumed by the newly elected
officers. No change will be made
for the present in the conduct of
the road although President Mil-
leris expected to return to Browns-
ville in a short time when some
definite information will probably
be given out as to the future of
the road. The party with the
exception of Judge Wells returned

THE FAIRj
from
The weather prOgnostlcator pre-
dicts frost almost to the coast line
tonight. Those who have been
watching the weather forecasts the
past few weeks will know how to
govern themselves. In order to
predict weather in this section with
any degree of chance to strike it
correct the prophet must be on
the ground. The- prognostications
for other sections of the coast
country in no wise appjy to this
and while the weather is often
correctly foretold as would happen
if'the matter were merely guess
work. Of course the man who
does the predicting draws his
conclusions from the conditions
which exist in the section where
he is located. But as before stated
these conditions are not the same
here. There cjui be more different
kinds of weather here within a
given'twenty-four hours than any
other place under the sun. and
.the man who could predict just
wjuit will come next would be a
gem of the purest ray serene and
worthy of a better job than weather
prognosticating.
