Emory High School and was
junior historian and lettered in
football and basketball.
Mr. Swagerty joined the U.S.
Air Force and served for four
years, reaching the rank of Staff
Sergeant. He then joined the
U.S. Navy and served two vol-
untary tours in Vietnam, ulti-
mately serving for 20 years. He
received the Republic of Viet-
nam Service and Armed Forces
Expeditionary Service medals,
as well as many other awards.
After military retirement, he
worked for the U.S. Postal Ser-
vice, retiring in 1997, and en-
joyed vintage cars.
He is survived by daughters,
Kathy Lain and Suzanne Swager-
ty, both of Pasadena; step-daugh-
ters, Paula Faulkner, Lu Anne
Landfried and husband Gayland
of Lago Vista, and Peggy Davis
and husband Kiley of Canton;
step-sons, Clayton Skidmore and
