LA YLAND MUSEUM
PRESSRELEASES
BEST FOOT
FORWARD
The feet, each
composed of 26 bones and 33
joints with an intertwining
web of 126 muscles,
ligaments, and nerves, are
very important to one’s sense
of well-being. Layland
Museum invites everyone to
explore this important health
subject at Gallery Sunday,
January 21, at 2:30 p.m. Dr.
Molly Meloy will present
“Your Best Foot Forward,” a
program on reflexology and
ways to keep from being in
the 75% of Americans who
have foot pain.
An average person is on
his/her feet four or more
hours per day, taking
between 8,000 and 10,000
steps during that time. The
feet support weight, act as
shock absorbers, propel the
legs forward, and balance and
adjust to uneven terrain.
Taking good care of one’s
feet not only keeps feet
feeling good but may prevent
pain in others parts of the
body, such as the lower back.
Wearing the right shoes
during childhood will help.
Allow for a thumb’s width of
space between the end of the
toes and the end of the shoe;
also shoes should provide
support and yet be flexible.
A vivacious speaker,
Dr. Molly Meloy holds a PhD
in Naturopathic Studies with
an emphasis in Energetic
Studies as well as Master’s
degree in Music Performance
professional memberships.
Currently, she combines;
her private practice with
teaching. In her practice in
Crowley, she specializes in
hypnosis techniques for
smoking cessation, weight
loss, and stress reduction. She ‘
teaches Reflexology and
Aromatherapy for the
Extended Education program
at5 Texas Christian
University; Meloy is also
affiliated with the Continuing
Education program at Hill
College in Cleburne where
she teaches Beginning and
Advanced Reflexology.
Meloy enjoys the hobby of
aviation in her spare time.
It is a new year and a
new subject of health for
Gallery Sunday. But the
advice is old and wise,
coming from English poet
Robert Browning: “Put your
best foot forward!” For more
information, call 817-645-
0940.
