Have you ever felt that God was calling you to do something
you thought you weren't qualified to do? Gideon was told
that his strength would save Israel. It didn't take long for
Gideon to come up with excuses why he couldn't help.
Gideon was content; he didn't want to leave his comfort
zone in the agricultural profession. Nor did Gideon see him-
self as God did, and he wouldn't make a move without di-
rect confirmation from the Lord.
Eventually Gideon accepted the Lord's call and became a
successful military leader and later a judge. With Gideon as
commander, his army of 300 soldiers defeated 135,000 of
their enemies.
Understanding the road to forgiveness and obtaining eternal, uncondi-
tional love is very simple! The following is a breakdown of the keys
needed for eternal life.
What sort of legacy will you leave when you leave this
Earth? What are your aspirations? Would you settle for in-
venting the next new thing that will be old tomorrow? Will
you live for the living God whose ways are everlasting, and
whose truth is established more firmly than the heavens
themselves? This is an excellent life. It is a life worth living.
It is a sure way to live a life that is not wasted. Lots of peo-
ple waste their lives on important nothings. The follower of
Christ has a higher calling. We serve a living God who has
redeemed us and lovingly cared for us. The commendable
life is one that sets the Lord as the reason for living. Only
those who know sin forgiven can give a satisfying answer to
the question we started with.
It was time for our family vacation to the beach, and I didn't
want to go. I loved the ocean, sand, and listening to the
waves-but the trip preparations were overwhelming. I told
God my feelings, and said that the only way I would go is if
everything were complete on the to-do list. I wanted His
will, for mine would have been to stay home. With all the
priorities checked off, we set sail. While the trip was far
from perfect-we battled crowds, hotel plumbing woes, and
forgetting sunglasses-I knew, without any doubts, that it
was where I was supposed to be.
Finally, confessing and repenting your sin to God the Father. ulf we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness” (IJohn 1:9).

The Bible says, (iFor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God." (Romans 3:23) Acknowledging that you have sinned and ask-
ing for His forgiveness is the first key to Salvation!
The material printed on this page does not necessarily
reflect the opinion of the staff of the GV Tribune
There are really only two things that we live for, and this
applies not to most of us, but all of us. We either live for
God or for Satan. You might think that is such a hard dis-
tinction, and I would submit to you that the distinction is
harder than that. Upon what we live for depends our eter-
nity. You and I either serve Christ or the devil. This being
true, we ought to be firmly resolved which it will be - and
then live according to our convictions. I would take you to
the words of Elijah to the people of Israel, in the verse we
started with. Elijah draws a clear distinction between God
and the false god, non-god, Baal. The matter is just as clear
today. We are presented with the same challenge today.
Will we follow God, or will we turn our own way and serve
whatever sensual pleasures gratify our lusts? Is God worth
serving? Is your soul worth saving? The questions are rhe-
torical.
(Judges 6-8, Hebrews ll:32-33)"But Lord, " Gideon asked,
"how can I save Israel? My dan is the weakest in Manas-
seh, and I am the least in my family." The Lord answered,
"I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midia-
nites together. "(Judges 6:15-16 NIV)
Ask that question to many and you will, I imagine, be
greeted with a blank stare. Most don't ever consider the
question, which it seems is an important one. We go to
work, take vacations, attend church and family gatherings
go shopping, mow the lawn, etc., but why? What are we
living for? Maybe it is for the next vacation, or for our chil-
dren, or maybe our consuming compassion is that new car,
or better home - but these are not things to "live" for. What
is our main objective in life? For many, it is to enjoy them-
selves. For many, it is the endless pursuit of pleasure, and
yet, I still think when posed with the question, "What are
you living for?" even the person bent on all-things-self,
would be mystified and unable to answer. Most do not have
a certain object to life. Most who seem to have defining in-
terests and pursuits would not wish to admit that those
quests define them. They would want something more. I
submit that most people go though this life with no definite
aim to it.

Is there a situation in which you would trade in your human
eyes for God-like eyes?
Because of sin, God’s only Son was conceived of the Holy Ghost,
and born of the Virgin Mary on earth to pay the ultimate price for our
sin—His life! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only
Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal
life” (John 3:16) Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead
and is today alive at the right hand of our Father in heaven. Believing
that Jesus Christ died, but is alive today, is the second key to eternal
life with God.

THAT IS IT... Christ paid for our salvation with His death on the
cross because He loves us unconditionally. Simply put - accepting the
gift of salvation is acknowledging your sin, believing in Jesus, and con-
fessing your sin in prayer to God.
