It is difficult to find a topic to discuss when there are so many that demand
our attention. Let us see, there is the weather. We have set a new record for
triple digit temperature days this summer. We have set a new record for wild
fires in the state. It probably isn’t a record but the state is in the throes of a
serious drought. None of these are particularly good. We could discuss the
president’s political problems, which are large and endless. His suggested
solutions are repetitive and the election is over a year away. None of these
subjects are of much interest this evening. There is one that should tickle
your conservative bones, and just might get your juices to jump up and
down.
There has long been an effort by atheists and non Christians to remove
every vestige of God from public life. They are getting closer. The FCC has
granted a Federal hearing on a subject that would remove the reading of the
Holy Bible over the air waves. If this attempt is successful, all Sunday wor-
ship services being broadcast on the radio or by television will be stopped.
This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas programs and
Christmas carols from public schools. There are those who think that it
couldn’t happen here but let me remind you that this sort of attitude is the
way we lost prayer in our public schools!
our freedoms fall, one by one our quality of life depreciates a little more.
Pushing God farther and farther out of our lives will cost us more than we
want to pay, I promise! The men who wrote our Constitution probably
weren’t all paragons of virtue, but they sure did their best to start us on the
right path. We are gradually kissing off the part of our lives that should be
the most meaningful. Politics is contributing a lot of it by preaching “polit-
ical correctness”. I don’t buy into that hogwash!
