Two hillbillies woo had
never been on a train were
drafted and on their way to
camp. A food butcher came
through the train selling ba-
nanas, which neither mount-
-aineer had ever seen. Each
bought one. As one 9 f them
bit into his banana the train
entered a tunnel. His voice
came to his companion in the
darkness: "Have you at
yours yet?”
"Not yet. Why?”
"Well, don't touh ft. I’ve
et one bite and gone blind”.
We now have a new confus-
ion - end this time it's the
poll tax. That is about the
only issue left that hasn’t
been confused before. The
way it’s set up now is that in
order to vote in the state and
county elections you must pay
the customary $1.75 poll tax
fee or obtain an exemption.
The recent ratification of the
24th amendment repeals the
poll tax only as a requirement
for voting in federal elections.
Let us urge that you pay your
poll tax - and today (Friday)
is the deadline.
