11. Programs Implemented
Since January 1993
1. Equipment. One of the
first areas that needed attention was
our equipment. The precinct did
not have a complete maintenance
program on the equipment. We
have completed full service of all
our equipment and have started
keeping records on each piece of
equipment. Oil changes, tire
changes, basically all work done on
each piece of equipment is
documented and is easily accessible.
This information is very valuable
to the county, as it allows us to
look at expense per vehicle and
which ones are costly to operate.
When the time comes to sell a
vehicle it makes it possible to
provide information for the buyer
and could possibly bring a higher
selling price.
2. Traffic counts. We are
doing something never done in
Precinct 4, traffic counts on all our
county roads. It is very surprising
how many cars go over our roads in
a 24 hour period. The traffic counts
tell us which roads are a priority
and which ones we need to seal,
pave, etc. If you would like to
know how many cars travel down
