000 acres of all kinds of land have
been planted to trees by the Soil
Conservation Service during 1940,
Dr. Hugh H. Bennett, director,
states.
This season’s plantings amount to
67,000,000 trees on 67,000 acres of
farm and ether land through the
nation. Planting schedules for next
season will result in a cumulative
total of 628,000,000 trees on 530,250
acres.

A final appeal to relatives and
others for help in locating missing
registrants of the 1940 Selective
Service and Training Act was
made Saturday by members cf the
I Waxahachie board.
Eleven men, three of whom are
। white, are among those who violated
the draft law by changing their
address and by absenting them-
selves from jurisdiction of the board
Their names will be turned over to
the United State district attorney
at Dallas for prosecution under pro-
visicns of the act, if they are not
heard from within the next six
days, it was said. .
It was stated that if the men
would report now, leniency would
be shown, probably to the extent
of dropping all prosecution.
