The two pieces are joined at a
later stage.
As the boats move down the as-
sembly line they are polished and
rough edges are sanded.
When the boats are sanded and
polished — and have been fitted
with the necessary brass fittings—
they are put on a truck and car-
ried to the various Amphibious
Boats distributors throughout the
country.
Although the company had turn-
ed out only three Denton boats by
late Friday, there is a large supply
of craft of various sizes at the tem-
porary quarters.
Most of these were either finish-
ed or well underway before the
company decided to move to Den-
ton late in March.
The boats are all built of fiber-
glass and come in several differ-
ent color combinations. They
range in size from 14 to 17 feet,
and include one model with re-
tractable wheels that eliminates
the need for a trailer.

the hull by means of spring me-
chanism.
The first step in building one of
the fiberglass boats is to put a lay-
er of material in the hull mold.
This first coat gives the hull its
color. After that drys, five addi-
tional coats are put in the mold —

Approximately M miles of Den-
ton County roads will receive a
face-lifting during the next four
months.
Seal coat work—a means of
protecting the highway surface
against weathering—has begun in
the county, and sections of eight
major arteries will be seel coat-
ed between now and July. C. C.
Roddy of Dallas, the contractor for
the road work, has estimated the
job will be finished sometime in
July, according to a report from
the Denton office of the Texas
Highway Department.
Work began Thursday on State
Highway 121 from Lewisville to
the Dallas County line and on
Farm Road 2281 from the Dallas
County line to Farm Road 544 near
Hebron.
Other projects scheduled include
State Highway 24 from the Wise
County Line to the Collin County
line—the width of Denton County;
U. S. Highway 377 from the Tar-
rant County line north to Denton;
Farm Road 407 from U. S. 377 to
the Denton - Dallas Expressway,
Farm Road 2164 from four miles
north of Denton north to a county
road intersection; Farm Road 1385
from State Highway 24 north to
the Mustang community; and Farm

Une to two miles east of Farm
Road 1173 and from Sanger four
miles east to a county road inter-
section.
Traffic on the farm roads will
be routed on the shoulders and
slopes around the work area, a
highway department spokesman
said. In some cases, traffic will be
delayed for short periods. Traffic
on the primary arteries will be
routed on half-widths of the pave-
ment or the shoulders around the
area.
In addition to flagmen, adequate
barricades and warning signals
will be prominently displayed, the
department spokesman said.
Also scheduled for work is
Farm Road 51 from the Wise Coun-
ty line to"the Cooke County line
in the extreme northwest corner of
Denton County. J. A Long & Son
Inc. of McKinney has the con-
tract for the reconstruction of
grading, structures, base and sur-
facing on the road- The work is
expected to be finished by May 15.

The Rev. Jack H Prichard, sen-
ior minister at Hemphill Presby-
terian Church in Fort Worth, will
speak at TWU Palm Sunday ser-
vices at 7:30 a.m. today in Red-
bud Auditorium.
His topic will be “Decision and
Destiny."
Palm Sunday services are spon-
sored annually by the Student
Council of Religious activities.

A faculty member and a gradu-
ate assistant of the NTSC mathe-
matics department have been
awarded fellowships for study to-'
ward the Ph.D. degree in mathe- |
matics. " * e-
James Hodge, a member of the'
faculty since 1967, has been award-
ed an advanced graduate fellow- ■
ship by the University of Georgia I
for 1960-6'. The award of $2,000
will provide for fulltime study to-
ward the degree.
Bill Power of Tyler, a graduate;
assistant in the department, has
been awarded a graduate assistan- ,
ship at the Universitv of Kansas.
Power will teach half time while
studying under the 12,000 award. |
Hodge received the bachelor of
science degree from NTSC in 1950
and the master's degree in 1957.1
At North Texas he was a member
of Kappa Mu Epsilon, honorary j
math organization.
Power received his bachelor's
degree in math from NTSC and
expects to receive his master’s
degree this summer. He was nam-
ed to “Who’s Who Among Students
in American CoHeges and Univer-
sities" in 1958 and was president
of KME.
Dr. H. C. Parrish is director of
the mathematics department. I
